Why Some Online Stores Don’t Sell?

Today, around 22,000 online stores operate in Poland, not counting auction and marketplace platforms. It looks like tough competition – especially because large stationary brands often have their online equivalents.

Product availability is practically unlimited today because we can buy almost anything anywhere we have an internet connection. If that’s the case, why is sales so low in some stores? There can be several reasons.

One of them can be an unattractive appearance. Several factors contribute to this, including graphics, photos, and descriptions. On top of that, many stores have an unclear purchase journey, a complicated form, unavailable payment methods, or too few shipping options. There are also other confusing elements that mislead customers.

The second important reason is the store’s problematic performance. Photos often take a long time to load, or customers have to wait for page reloads, search results, or the move to checkout. This happens when stores are hosted with too low server resources and can’t handle short-term traffic spikes. Customers then lose interest, and even if they buy something, they may not want to come back.

Another mistake in running an online store is not advertising. If you don’t promote your products and services anywhere, and you don’t show activity such as social media profiles or SEM and/or SEO efforts, don’t expect results. There are many tools that can help you promote your product and make it recognizable.
