Don’t Fall for It!

The most common scams on the internet. Unfair data-harvesting practices still exist online, so in this article we warn you about the most frequent ones.

On the most popular social platform—Facebook—you can post any content. As a result, we often encounter a “virus” in the form of posts that include a request to share, supposedly to bring financial benefits to people in need. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen that our actions truly help someone. Sometimes these are viruses that later publish unwanted content on the user’s wall on their behalf. In this way, the virus spreads quickly. The most popular Facebook viruses are links to “see who visits your Facebook” and high-value shopping vouchers for buying branded clothing.

Websites offering free downloads of various types of files are also very popular. Often, alongside a program, driver, or video, a troublesome virus gets downloaded too. It nests in your computer and—at best—shows unwanted ads, and—at worst—steals data from your drive.

Quick money-making ideas online are another scheme that people still fall for. All it takes is to stay reasonable and not waste time on these actions, because in this case “earning money” works by spreading this kind of “opportunity.” Often, you can lose not only time, but also money invested in questionable schemes.

We warn you against suspicious ads, enticing content, and images—because once the virus is on your device, it’s very difficult to remove, and it may take a long time before we realize we have it.
