Viruses That Infect All Year Round

Infection can affect even your devices, and it’s not only during the autumn-winter season. Every day, computers, smartphones, and tablets are targeted by unwanted viruses. Some are fairly harmless, while others can steal or destroy our data.

Adware: if you download the free version of a program, you’ll most likely end up installing adware as well. It’s an application that displays advertising banners, often annoying internet users.

Spyware: it often comes together with adware, but it’s even worse. It spies on the user online, checks their IP address, operating system, and browser. It also collects information about searches and website visits. These data are used so that adware can display well-targeted ads.

Trojan: the name comes from the Trojan Horse—because we unknowingly install it on our computer along with useful programs that often are very helpful to us. Unfortunately, when the legitimate program is run, the virus also starts. It can damage the system, expose it to further attacks, and more. Trojans are also often sent via email as attachments.

Haoxy: these are fake alerts that claim the device is infected and persuade the user to take the “right” steps. They instruct the user to delete files responsible for the system’s proper operation.

What can you do to protect yourself from viruses?

Sometimes, even if you have antivirus software installed, you can still get infected. To minimize the risk, don’t open suspicious files, avoid websites offering free programs, and regularly change your passwords and update your system.
